- Drag symbols using the Dragging Tool (obtained by pressing the Option key or typing “d”, or clicking on its icon in the Tool Palette).
- Insert new notes with accidentals by pressing the Shift key while you place notes in the staff. Move the mouse up/down on the staff to display a choice of accidentals, then release the mouse button before releasing the Shift key. (You can also click a note into the score and hold down the mouse button, then press the Shift key to add an accidental.)
- Change the pitch of a note already in the score by dragging it up/down. Change a note’s accidental by dragging the note while the Shift key is pressed.
- Shift-click at any two places in the score to select all symbols between.
- Command-click on any single symbol to add it to a selected group of symbols. Command-click again on any single symbol to remove it from the selected group.
- Move Beams and Slurs by dragging them with the Dragging Tool, or Double-clicking on them to call up reshaping boxes.
- Move Accents, Articulations, Fermatas, etc. by dragging them with the Dragging Tool. Remove/Delete them with the Remove Modifiers command (Edit menu).
- Record from the keyboard playing the right hand one octave higher than normal (to ensure division between treble/bass voices). When finished, click on the treble clef sign and transpose the entire staff down one octave.

Extend Selection (Cmd-option-a) Select any objects; extends the selection to all objects above or below.
QuickChange™ (Cmd-h) – Select any objects and alter dozens of their characteristics:
Change notehead shapes, change stem lengths, add parentheses to accidentals, make symbols invisible (notes, barlines, dynamics, etc.), control vertical position of chords, text, etc., assign voice numbers to selected notes, assign notes to different voices. . . and much more.

Master Page (Cmd-;) - Calls up a separate menu of Master Page commands (see below).
Work on Page Format (Cmd-option-f) - Calls up a separate menu of Page Format commands (see below).
Left Ends of Systems - Control indentind of the first systems and all remaining systems.
Add System Below/Above (Cmd-9) - Go to the Score menu, select Add System Below - Click on the clef sign to change to Add System Above.
Add Part/Staff (Above or at Bottom) — Go to the Score menu, select Master Page, then move over to the Master Page menu, select Add Part at Bottom - Click on any staff shown in Master Page to change to Add Part Above.
Flow in Text/Lyrics - Press Option key to repeatedly enter a syllable
Respace Bars (Cmd-r) - Click in any measure, or select a region to adjust spacing.
Reformat Systems (Cmd=) - Select a region and specify how many measures are allowed per system, and how many systems per page.
Justify Systems (Cmd-j) - Click in any measure or select a region; spreads out measures to fill up the width of a system.
Realign with Selection (Cmd-option-r) - Visually clean up notation that has become misaligned horizontally.
Auto Respace Measures - Turn on or off, depending on whether you want automatic positioning of notes and rests.
• MASTER PAGE MENU •
Add Part/Staff Above (Cmd-a) - Click on a staff to add a part above it. To add a part below, be sure nothing is selected.
Split Part - Break up a grand staff or other multiple staff part into individual parts.
Instrument (Cmd-i) - Specify part name, range limits, transposition, and playback MIDI patch, channel, and balance velocity.

Hide Staff (Cmd-h) - Hide any parts that are resting for an entire system.
• NOTES/RESTS MENU •
Set Duration (Cmd-d) - Select any note or region of your score and specify a specific rhythmic value.
Remove Rhythmic Gaps/Resynchronize (Cmd-\) - Select a region of notes and rests which are awkwardly distributed across too many beats; compresses them toward the front of each measure, filling in the beats.
Set Whole/Multibar Rests - Select any whole rest; changes it to a multibar rest of any length.
Transpose Chromatic (Cmd-t) - Select any region and transpose by a specific, fixed interval.
Transpose Diatonic (Cmd-option-t) - Select any region and transpose by an interval with all pitches moving diatonically within the key.
Transpose Key - Select the initial clef, key signature or time signature of a staff or part, or several at once; transposes the selected staves or parts from beginning to end.
Remove Modifiers (Cmd-k) - Select any notes or rests; deletes all accents, articulations and fermatas.
Flip Direction (Cmd-f) - Select any notes in a single voice; sets stem direction for voice separation.
• GROUPS MENU •
Beam by Beat (Cmd-option-b) - Beams a selected region according to time signature.
Beam Notes (Cmd-b) - Beams any selected notes (16th or smaller)
Break Beam Before (Cmd-b) - Select a beamed note (16th or smaller); creates a break in the secondary beam.
Flip Fractional Beam - Controls direction of beam segments in syncopated groups of beamed notes.
Create Tuplet (Cmd-3) - Automatically devises the correct tuplet for any group of selected notes and rests.
Fancy Tuplet - Controls special display of ratios and brackets.
Create Octave Sign - Places above or below selected notes a dotted octave bracket and a numeric indication.
• VIEW MENU •
Go to… (Cmd-g) - Jump to a specific page, measure or rehearsal number.
Go to Selection (Cmd-opt-g) - Jump to whatever page and measure has selected material in it
Reduce (Cmd-[) - Zooms out to view more of the page, or more pages
Enlarge (Cmd-]) - Zooms in to a higher magnification of the page
Look at One Voice (Cmd-L) - Choose one voice in your score to edit, dimming all objects belonging to other voices. Optional: click first on any note --automatically identifies and isolates its voice.
Look at All Voices (Cmd-opt-L) - Reverses the Look at One Voice command
Show Sync Lines - Turn on sync lines so they are displayed constantly, showing which notes and rests line up with each other on the same beat.
Color Extra Voices - Displays additional voices in a staff using separate colors.
Redraw Screen (Cmd-` )
Redraw Interrupt (Cmd-period) - Invisible command, not on any menu

Play Entire (Cmd-1) - Plays the entire score from the beginning
Continue Play (Cmd-2) - Click anywhere in the score to play back from that point
Play Selection (Cmd-4) - Select any notes and play only the selected material
Record Insert (Cmd-5) - Insert new measures using real time MIDI recording
Record Merge - Click in any empty measure to record above/below other parts in real time
Step Record Insert (Cmd-6) - Use MIDI to step insert notes on new beats
Step Record Merge (Cmd-7) - Use MIDI to step insert notes that merge above/below others
MIDI Preferences - Set overall parameters for which MIDI channel is to be used
MIDI SYstem Setup - Control built-in MIDI port hookup and interface speed
Instrument MIDI Settings (Cmd-option-m) - Click in a staff then adjust the MIDI channel and patch numbers
Transpose MIDI - Set MIDI data to use concert key or transposed keys.
OMS MIDI Setup - Displays the OMS MIDI connections (installing OMS is required)
Open Current OMS Setup - Dsiplays your OMS Studio Setup (installing OMS is required)
